De Kalabash Foundation is a colorful, dynamic, multicultural organization that seeks to make the public familiar with the rich cultural heritage of Africa in particular and the promotion of a multicultural society through artistic performances and organizing innovative events that contributes to community development and social cohesion. 

We are a non-profit informative organization engaging in collective effort to preserve our indigenous creative expressions, folklore arts and most especially our traditional ideals and dance which for long represent the oldest; most beautiful and intriguing of all existing performing arts.

The mixture of cultures is increasing rapidly and so is our difference in culture. For our organization, this is a great social and cultural challenge. Dealing with these cultural differences is sometimes a problem, but that differences make us all individually unique and interesting to each other. So instead of blaming each other. For who we are, we should try to understand each other by doing things together and learn to know each other. In doing so, this differences will enrich our society and the World at large.

De Kalabash believes that the individuality and unique imagination of these groups can be put together to create new ideas, cultural forms and a positive way of mingling with each other. Our organization via different sectors work with these groups, making them active and passionate with each other through artistic and cultural projects.

Furthermore, discovering talents, encouraging and supporting them. In view of the many different cultures in the World today, we still have very little knowledge about other cultures: De kalabash foundation strives among others with our activities to change these.

* First of all developing a society based on equity, unity and respect for all.

* Secondly, promoting an integrated multicultural society that both shares and celebrates the contribution of people of all  ethnic and cultural origins.

* Thirdly, getting the youths{autochtoon and allochtoon} acquainted with each other and there after their culture which signifys who they are.Lastly with all our events and projects, we emphasizes a important message and that is ‘WE REALLY CAN LIVE TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH WE ARE DIFFERENT.

Finally, the foundation is also creating a new curricular initiative programme which will see a lot of the youths off the streets, away from drugs and other dubious ways. By encouraging & organizing them from grass root into the elevation of extinct culture, ways of life; using folklore & contemporary dance, song, music & theatre as a mean of cultural expression, discipline and education in human values.
